Deane, John (English) (c.1670) - used various national flags to fool victims, captured and sentenced to death in Jamaica, he was released on a technicality

Decatur, Stephen Sr. (American) (c.1776) - privateer during revolutionary war, father to Stephen Decatur Jr., hero from Jefferson's war against Barbary pirates in early 1800's

Deenes, Isaac (English) (c.1696) - Burlington, New Jersey baker, signed on with William Kidd

Delander, Robert (English) (c.1670) - commanded a ship on Morgan's raid of Panama

De L'isle, Captain (French) (c.1660) - captured Santiago, Hispaniola

Dempster, Edward (English) (c.1668) - sailed with Morgan at raids on Porto Bello and Maracaibo, Venezuela

Denball, Sampson (English) (c.1624) - traveled with John Ward to Tunis, converted to Islam and led several Barbary raids, captured in 1624 he was condemned to be a galley slave

Derrick, Captain (English) (c.1581) - captured French ship near Studland Bay

Desmarais, Captain (French) (c.1685) - worked with Le Picard and Jena Rose

D'Estampes, Teodosio (c.1667) - Knight of Malta

Diabolito (Cuban) (c.1824) - sailed near Cuba and the Yucatan Peninsula

Dortolo, Giovon Pietro (c.1616) - Barbary corsair

Doughty, Thomas (English) (d.1578) - one of several gentlemen that sailed with Francis Drake on his round the world journey, beheaded by Drake for treasonable actions, buried on what Drake named the Island of True Justice

Douglas, Saunders (English) (c.1696) - servant to New York vintner Michael Hawden, signed on with William Kidd by Hawden who would receive half his share of any plunder

Downes, John (English) (c.1631) - raided from southern Cornwall by bribing local officials

Drake, Bernard (English) (c.1584) - cousin to Francis Drake, he swooped down on the Spanish in Newfoundland, capturing 600 fishermen and denying Spain much of the cod produce

Drake, Francis (English) (1540-1596) - English privateer, knighted in 1581, also defended England from the Spanish Armada in 1588

Drake, John (English) (d.1572) - brother to Francis, died of wound received in November on an attack on a passing frigate

Drake, Joseph (English) (d.1572) - brother to Francis, died of illness (probably yellow fever) in his brother Francis' arms in November

Drake, Thomas (English) (c.1585) - commanded the ship Thomas on Francis Drake's West Indies raid

Dremer, Patrick (English) (c.1696) - Philadelphia laborer, signed on with William Kidd

Drew, George (English) (c.1695) - privateer outfitted in Barbados at the same time as Thomas Tew, became separated from Tew in route to Africa

Duchesne, Captain (French) (c.1683) - sacked Tampico, Mexico

Duguay-Truoin, Rene (French) (1673-1736) - French corsair, sailing out of St.Malo, career spanned 23 years, and captured 16 warships and 300 merchant ships.

Duppa, Michael (English) (c.1613) - sailed from Mamora, Morocco
